I AM AN INDIVIDUAL

Being a caller

As an individual, together with friends, family members, colleagues, etc., you may become a caller and accompany a refugee and his/her family for the first year of their stay in Argentina. This possibility is offered through the Syria Programme, which has implemented a community sponsorship programme giving the opportunity to individuals/families/groups of volunteers to participate in the resolution of global refugee issues, with a direct support to the resettlement of families fleeing from the crisis in Syria.

Becoming a caller is a legal obligation that implies a lot of effort and economic resources to cover the needs of the beneficiary family for the first 12 months of their stay in Argentina.

Being a volunteer

Putting yourself forward as a caller is not the only way to be a part of long-lasting solutions for refugees. The organisations making up the Network receive help from volunteers in a number of their social programmes and the stages involved in the accompaniment of families arriving in Argentina. Visit the webpage of the various organisations that make up the Network to learn out about the opportunities and types of help needed.

I AM AN NGO

Being a caller

Your organisation may become a sponsor and accompany a family of refugees for the first year of their stay in Argentina. This possibility is offered through the Syria Programme, which has implemented a community sponsorship programme giving the opportunity to civil society organisations, in addition to individuals, to participate in the resolution of global refugee issues, with a direct support to the resettlement of families fleeing from the crisis in Syria.

Being the link between callers and the Government

In addition to acting directly as a sponsor, interested institutions and organisations may support, as guarantors, the commitment of caller persons to the maintenance, housing and accompaniment of the beneficiaries of the Syria Programme.

I AM A SCHOOL/UNIVERSITY

Promoting and spreading community sponsorship

The community sponsorship programme does not contemplate the participation of universities as callers. However, your school or university may act as a spokesperson, promoting and spreading —within the student and teaching community— information regarding the situation of refugees around the world, and the existence of community sponsorship to increase the society’s awareness and knowledge about these issues. Students and teachers, as individuals, do have the possibility to put themselves forward as callers.

I AM A LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Being a caller

A provincial or municipal government may become a caller and accompany a family of refugees for the first year of their stay in Argentina. This possibility is offered through the Syria Programme, which has implemented a community sponsorship  programme giving the opportunity to individuals, organisations and local governments to participate in the resolution of global refugee issues, with a direct support to the resettlement of families fleeing from the crisis in Syria. Visit the web page of the San Luis Humanitarian Corridor to learn about the experiences of the Government of the San Luis province, which participates in this initiative.

I AM A COMPANY

Job offers and internships

Your company may support community sponsorship receiving refugees as trainees or as employees if the qualifications required match the profiles of the newly arrived people, to participate in their local integration into Argentina. Labour market inclusion is usually the greatest integration challenge of refugee families. In this context, the contribution of companies is valuable so that both the receiving country and the refugee population can take advantage of the cultural exchanges which resettlement implies.

Promoting community sponsorship

The community sponsorship programme does not contemplate the participation of companies as callers. However, your company may promote and spread information about those social issues within its staff, who do have the possibility to put themselves forward as callers. In addition, you may contribute with donations to organisations that make up this Network and support the process as sponsor organisations or by means of social programmes aimed at social integration and labour market inclusion. Visit the web page of the organisations to learn about their various projects.
